About Us

Our approach

Adjudication Advice is a specialist service offered by a dedicated unit formed from the construction law and dispute resolution teams at Sharpe Pritchard.

The team is led by head of construction Justin Mendelle. Recognised as a leader in his field by the Legal 500, Justin has over a decade of experience in successfully advising on construction projects. The team is strongly resourced at all levels to ensure comprehensive support at every stage of the adjudication process. Our team is also able to draw on a trusted network of technical advisors to provide expert input when required.

We are experienced in dealing with adjudication under all the major standard form contracts including JCT, NEC and GC/Works. Our team is also very familiar with the procedures for adjudication under the Scheme for Construction Contracts, the standard form contracts and the key independent bodies, including TeCSA, TECBAR and CEDR.

We are equally comfortable acting for the party referring an adjudication or responding to an adjudication and fully understand the different pressures involved in each. If you are referring a dispute to adjudication, we will support you with:

If you have to respond to a request for adjudication, our support will include:

  • rapid response advice;
  • preparation of response notice; and
  • advice on procedure.

Depending on the outcome, we also advise on:

  • appealing a decision; and
  • enforcement.

The timescales in adjudication are extremely tight – effectively 28 days from start to finish. This means that the pressures are intense and it is crucial to have calm, experienced and knowledgeable advisors on board.

Our approach, while underpinned by a deep legal knowledge, is pragmatic and commercial.

Disputes are a fact of life in the construction industry. The Sharpe Pritchard adjudication service will help you navigate your way to a successful outcome.
